Innovative ‘support and more’ services

Gorwel provides services that offer ‘support and more’ within communities. Vulnerable people are valued (not a burden); they participate (not suffer passively). Our services focus on individuals’ abilities as well as their needs.

Anglesey Community Garden

Older people in Anglesey are picking up trowels and forks to fight loneliness at a community garden in Llangefni. The project is part of an effort to reduce loneliness and depression in older people, who may feel isolated, and offer them a sense of well-being.

Horses help domestic abuse sufferes

Horses helping survivors of domestic abuse in Anglesey and Gwynedd are regaining their confidence and receiving support on the road to recovery, thanks to an innovative scheme involving horses. Young women and adults can work with horses in order to help them gain confidence and communication skills following their experiences of abuse.

Holistic approach to helping people with complex needs

We can help people with complex multiple support needs due to issues such as hoarding, substance misuse, offending, low-level learning disability or mental health needs, by offering a ‘floating’ housing related support service. The service is available to social and private tenants in Gwynedd, as well as owneroccupiers. The initiative is the first of its kind which provides intensive support, to help the most vulnerable people live as independently as possible by addressing all their problems together.
